Minnesota and Wisconsin are BEAUTIFUL PLACES to visit!!!

So today we left Johnston, Iowa and headed north.  We had quite the night in our tent as it started pissing down rain and hail whilst a thunderstorm raged above us.  It was pretty scary at times but we were fine.  We left this morning and drove all day...stopped in Albert Lea for lunch...it was NOT good, had to send veggie burgers back because the "no cheese, no mayo" request was denied and then had to send Steve's salad back because it was not optimal...now we are at Jules Coffee Shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  It is very very lovely here.  Along the way, we took a back road and saw 3 camels grazing (yes, camels) and a little gang of little miniature horses!!!! They were so dang cute!!!! Anyway.....we are lodging in a hotel tonight as it is bloody cold and wet.  No tent for these peeps tonight!!!! We will check back soon!!!!! xoxoxo Tara N Steve

We're not in Kansas anymore Toto....or wait yes we are!!!

So today we left El Dorado, KS for Johnston, Iowa and we are taking a soy latte break.  We were slated to stay in a campground at El Dorado State Park last night, but thanks to Stephen and myself procrastinating yesterday morning we didn't leave on time and then were driving late and the bloody GPS got screwed up and took us on a crazy goose chase looking for the campsite....we ended up booking into the Stardust Motel and let me tell you...it looked like the location the latest psychotic prison thriller was filmed.  I was even too scared to shower and the towels looked like something out of another horror film!!! Anyway, we saw some intriguing sights yesterday as we drove through Texas, west Texas that is, and by intriguing I mean DISGUSTING!!! We saw these massive cattle factory farms...it was so seriously scary.  It smelled so awful and we saw all these poor cattle with NO shade literally piled on top of one another fighting for access to the feeder so they could stuff themselves on (no doubt GMO)grains...anyway- we aren't posting any pictures of this because we heard it may be ILLEGAL to take pictures of farms in the near future...another thing we would like to address was the amount of trash (mostly broken beer bottles, beer cans and cigarette butts) that were all over the State Park we paid money to enter.  We wanted to go and have a nice relaxing morning by the lake and there was TRASH EVERYWHERE!!! What kind of people litter like this? We could not begin to fathom why anyone would act so inappropriately....or wait...could we???  Well, the latte has run dry and we must hit the road!!!!!!!!!

summer of travel, research and amazement

On June 7th we leave for a roadtrip to Pennsylvania, back across to Vancouver and back home with a stop in Boulder.  We have started our business Green and Blue and this summer will be key to research, workshops, and filming!  We are indescribably excited as we are both consumed with making the world a better place in any way we can.  We have been through many trials and tribulations and we have finally in the last few weeks figured out getting our hopes and dreams organized and putting thoughts into ACTIONS.  We feel strongly about making a difference.........

in Denver for Aquaponics workshop

Today we will attend a workshop called "Introduction to Aquaponics" at the Growhaus in downtown Denver.  We are extremely excited and really looking forward to meeting these people and see what they are doing.  We are planning a summer vacation to Pennsylvania and Vancouver to do research all over the country whilst simultaneously visiting with both of our families.  We are heading to breakfast at Watercourse Foods.  We will update soon!!  Oh and by the way we get to attend U2 at Invesco Field later right up the street from our hotel.....we are so very lucky!!!
